Note from the President, Will Prather
Hello friends and members of the FMHS Athletic Booster Club and welcome to our new Monthly GreeniE-Newsletter. This email will provide a regular opportunity to more effectively communicate important news and updates on the club’s activities. It will be a work in progress for the first few months and we welcome your feedback.
The school year has gotten off to a great start with the 11 fall sports teams already competing, including Football, Volleyball, Boys and Girls Bowling, Boys and Girls Cross Country, Boys and Girls Swimming, Boys and Girls Golf and Cheerleading. Nearly 200 student athletes are practicing hard, competing for wins and forming new bonds as teammates.
The Booster Club is proud to have taken on two big initiatives for the school. We purchased and are administering the new mandatory physical education uniform and running them through the Gear Shop. We are also excited to announce that the Booster Club purchased new cheerleading uniforms and keep an eye out for them later this fall.
A big shout out from me to Krista Hardee who is overseeing the football concession stand, Judith Davis who is heading up membership, and the long hours Angela Guttery put in last month as our treasurer. And our V.P. Tona Hackett, who is also leading the new Academic Booster Club, has been an invaluable resource, Thanks to volunteers like this, we have the most successful Athletic Booster Club in Lee County!
And a big Greenie welcome and shout out to our new Athletic Director, Cameron Yearsley. He’s doing a tremendous job as our new A.D. and if you haven’t had a chance to meet him, be sure to say hello and welcome him to FMHS!
Note from the Athletic Director, Cameron Yearsley
It has been an honor to take over the reins of the athletic department for the mere two months I have been here. Being a new face, it is apparent to me that the parents, coaches, student-athletes, and community of Fort Myers High School are warm, caring, and driven people concerned with nothing but support, spirit, and enthusiasm to make things work here. This feeling is palpable and engendered in the support provided by the Booster Club.
Volunteers and Items Needed
The Booster Club could always use more help, especially on home football games. We are still looking for a grill master and have not been able to replace the invaluable skills of Cheryl and Kevin Mitchell who manned the grill station for years.
We are also in need of a freezer chest for the stadium concession stand and could use a new microwave for the gym concession stand. If you happen to have one of these you could donate, just drop me an email and we will be glad to pick it up.
In this section of the newsletter we will highlight a few of the special coaches we have helping our teams at FMHS. We would like to welcome the following new coaches to Greenie Nation: Chad Terrell, Girls Basketball, and Heather Neubert, Varsity Cheer.
We’ve got a few important dates coming up and please mark your calendar.
